Long-time blood donors took part in a campaign organized by Sofia Airport Center to save lives
As part of the celebration of World Blood Donor Day, the Sofia Airport Center (SAC) community participated in yet another campaign co-organised by the National Center for Transfusion Hematology (NCTH).
This is the 11th consecutive blood drive organised by Sofia Airport Center (SAC) and IBM Bulgaria. Thirty-three employees participated in the event, united by the cause of saving lives. Once again, among the most active participants were employees of IBM Bulgaria - a company with a strong culture of empathy, solidarity, and care for people. Particularly impressive is the example set by two of the company’s employees, who have donated blood 30 and 45 times, respectively, over the past decade.
“Sofia Airport Center (SAC) is committed to the cause of voluntary blood donation, and for us, this is an opportunity to encourage the community to show compassion, solidarity, and genuine care for the people around them. Every year, we organise blood drives in partnership with IBM Bulgaria, and there is always great interest. That is why the award we are receiving from the National Center for Transfusion Hematology (NCTH) is such a great honor for us,” commented Nedelina Traykova, a senior expert at Sofia Airport Center (SAC).
Dr. Krasimira Terzieva, director of the National Center for Transfusion Hematology, noted that IBM Bulgaria, whose headquarters are located in the complex, was not chosen by chance as one of the partners honored by the NCTH in 2025 for sustainable cooperation and a significant contribution to supporting voluntary blood donation.
According to her, it is precisely the long-term commitment of the business sector and the personal example set by employees that are key to maintaining the country’s blood supply and giving hope to hundreds of patients.
“True change begins when a good example inspires more people than fear does. Let’s continue to build a community of people who choose to help because they know that a single blood donation can mean a whole life saved. The organizers from the National Center for Transfusion and Hematology (NCTH) and Sofia Airport Center express their deep gratitude to all the volunteers who took the time to donate life and proved that corporate social responsibility has a real and measurable impact,” she says.
The Sofia Airport Center (SAC) community supports numerous causes and strives to create added value for society by encouraging businesses to get involved as well. Among these causes are support for children in need and people with disabilities, environmental protection, and sustainability.
