Sofia Airport Center Wins Two "Green Oscars" at b2b Media's ESG Awards
b2b Media’s “Greenest Companies in Bulgaria 2026” competition honored Sofia Airport Center EAD with awards in the “Green Project” and “Construction, Real Estate, Facility Management” categories. Thus, the business complex makes a triumphant return among the “green” leaders after several years of absence.
At the 16th edition of the competition, in the “Construction, Real Estate, Facility Management,” “without competition,” as Maria Lazarova, an expert in sustainable development project management and brand communication and a member of the jury, put it, Sofia Airport Center EAD won first place with the construction of logistics building B04. Construction began in March 2026, with completion scheduled for February 2027. The project relies on innovative construction solutions that combine high operational efficiency with sustainable development. A key solution is the integration of a smart building management system (BMS), which allows for precise monitoring of energy, water, and heat consumption by individual zones.
“On behalf of the entire team at Sofia Airport Center EAD, I would like to express my gratitude for this award. Our center is one of the few that features a park environment, logistics facilities, and offices, and we are striving to build on this,” said Radoslav Sokolov, Project Manager at Sofia Airport Center EAD, during the award ceremony.
Flex-R Lounge—a 300-square-meter, 15-meter-high shared workspace in Building A2 at Sofia Airport Center—won third prize in the “Green Project” category, judged by b2b Media and Devin. Petya Manastirska, “Sustainable Development and Quality” Manager at Devin EAD, presented the award to Dimitar Evgeniev, Financial Manager of Sofia Airport Center EAD. “Although we haven’t been on this stage for several years, we haven’t stopped working. Sofia Airport Center is the first business complex in Bulgaria to hold a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification. We continue to move in this direction,” he stated.
The Flex-R Lounge coworking space in Building A2 is designed in the Home Feeling style, where natural greenery and light create a sense of lightness and an escape from the office. It features 50 workstations and one meeting room. Building A2 is part of the RE:SHARE CONCEPT at Sofia Airport Center. It is situated within a 9,000-square-meter landscaped park featuring a pond, an outdoor fitness area, gazebos, and dedicated relaxation zones.
The “Greenest Companies in Bulgaria 2026” competition highlights ESG champions, sustainable leaders, and those who remain committed to their causes. It recognizes and builds upon the efforts of businesses, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to achieve sustainable goals and corporate-responsibility strategies. Its 16th edition reaffirmed this mission and focused on recognizing businesses that leave a “green” footprint.
